90 AC Replacement Contractors in Tucson, AZ

Tucson's Sonoran Desert climate is among the most demanding in the country for cooling systems — 62 days above 100°F annually, with peak summer highs averaging 100°F and a cooling season that runs from April through October. Lower humidity than Phoenix eases latent loads, but the raw heat intensity means AC units work hard for six-plus months straight. The ac replacement market in Tucson reflects that demand: 34 contractors, a 4.8-star average across 11,920 reviews, and 10 operating 24/7.

Replacement pricing in Tucson falls within Arizona's hot desert market tier. A 3-ton central AC runs $5,940 to $11,880 installed; a 4-ton mid-efficiency unit lands between $8,100 and $15,120; a 5-ton high-efficiency system reaches $10,260 to $17,280. Arizona requires contractors to hold a C-39, CR-39, or R-39 license for air conditioning and refrigeration work — residential and commercial designations are separate — issued by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.

D&H Air Conditioning holds 3,673 reviews at 4.8 stars, with customers specifically praising the installation team's handling of complex jobs like rooftop swamp cooler removals. Cool Willy's Air and Plumbing earns 4.9 stars from 1,273 reviews, with technician Noah earning individual mentions for thorough explanations during service visits. Smart Choice Heating and Cooling has built repeat loyalty — one customer returned for a third AC installation — with Adrian and Lamberto drawing consistent 5-star recognition for above-and-beyond service.
