55 Commercial HVAC Contractors in Rochester, NY

Rochester sits exposed to lake-effect snow blasts rolling in off Lake Ontario, with the city logging over 100 inches annually. This creates a uniquely demanding climate for business owners. The heating season runs solid from October through April, while summer brings brief but muggy conditions that push AC systems to manage latent loads despite temperatures rarely climbing past those comfortable 82-degree highs. Twenty-four commercial HVAC contractors serve the Rochester metro, earning an average rating of 4.4 stars across nearly fifteen hundred customer reviews, and five of them field around-the-clock calls for system emergencies.

These demanding conditions shape what businesses pay for service contracts. Annual preventive maintenance on a single rooftop unit runs from $550 to $2,200, while a small business occupying under five thousand square feet typically budgets $1,100 to $5,500 yearly. Mid-sized facilities between five and twenty-five thousand square feet see annual contract costs ranging from $3,850 to $11,000. Because New York State lacks a unified HVAC trade license, each municipality handles contractor credentialing separately, which means business owners should verify current local licensing before engaging any provider.

Customer feedback points to distinct service strengths among top performers. JJB Mechanical holds a perfect five-star average across 161 reviews, with multiple customers noting same-day or within-hours response during emergencies and technicians Juan and Daniel receiving repeated personal mentions. Paris Heating & Cooling matches that five-star level, with reviewers consistently flagging Chris and Toby by name and contrasting the company's competitive pricing against what rivals quoted. Empire Heating & Air Conditioning draws similarly strong praise, including several mentions of same-day or thirty-minute emergency arrivals. These patterns show that fast responsiveness and transparent pricing rank among the most valued qualities in Rochester's commercial HVAC market.
