Kansas City's back-to-back demands — 89°F humid summers followed by 20°F winters — put serious mileage on central AC systems. Replacements here rarely come as a surprise; they come after a third or fourth repair bill when the math no longer works. The Kansas City MO ac replacement market has 7 contractors averaging a perfect 5.0 stars across 3,805 reviews, and 3 of them offer around-the-clock service.

Replacement costs hinge on system size. A 3-ton central unit at basic efficiency runs $6,160–$12,320 installed. Step up to a 4-ton mid-efficiency system and expect $8,400–$15,680. High-efficiency 5-ton replacements top out around $17,920. Missouri has no statewide HVAC license requirement, so licensing is handled at the municipality level — verify local credentials with any contractor you're considering.

Buckner's Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing earns standout reviews for their breadth of system knowledge, including geothermal and heat pump options that few KC contractors discuss with confidence.
