368 HVAC Service Contractors in Portland, OR

Portland's HVAC service market reflects a city in climate transition. Mild, wet winters (January lows around 35°F) historically kept furnace demand steady, but recent summers topping 100°F have shifted the conversation. AC adoption is accelerating in a market that once treated cooling as optional. Portland has 108 HVAC service contractors averaging 4.6 stars across nearly 30,000 reviews, with 29 offering 24/7 availability.

Expect to pay $71–$190 for a service call or diagnostic, $67–$190 for a routine tune-up, and $143–$1,140 for a standard repair. Oregon requires HVAC contractors to hold the Limited Journeyman - Heating, Ventilating and Cooling (LHR) plus a CCB Contractor License from the Oregon Construction Contractors Board. When requesting quotes, confirm the technician holds both credentials — the LHR license is specific to HVAC work, separate from the general contractor registration.

Technician Rick at Central Air Heating, Cooling & Plumbing earns consistent praise for thorough diagnostic visits that explain findings without pushing unnecessary work — same-day emergency response is a recurring theme there. Bryan and Zach at Sunset Heating & Cooling are noted for pre-season furnace tune-ups with electrical grounding work done in tandem. At Cornel's, Juan and Kevin draw mentions for efficient water heater replacements during seasonal service calls, with clean job sites noted repeatedly.
